WELCOME BACK BIG 10
WELCOME BACK BIG 10
HOLY MOLY WELCOME BACK BIG 10 WE HAVE MISSED YOU!!!!! Big 10 football started Friday night with 14th ranked Wisconsin facing of against Illinois and lets be honest we all had Wisconsin winning this game from the get go and they delivered freshman Graham Mertz went 20-21 for 248 yards and 5 touchdowns. This freshman was feeling himself early and with good reason he was on fire early and lead the way with a 45-7 win. Wisconsin may have a quarterback of the future but only time will tell.
Saturday morning began with 5th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes playing host to Nebraska Cornhuskers. And to begin the game Nebraska's defense kept the pressure on Justin Fields early which had some of us thinking that this game was going to be close but ultimately Ohio State proved why they are the 5th ranked team and throttled Nebraska with the final score 52 to 17.
The morning slate of games saw two new coaches making their debut with the return of Greg Schiano at Rutgers and Mel Tucker at Michigan State. I'm just going to come out and say it RUTGERS FOOTBALL IS BACK BABY!!!! Rutgers forced 7 turnovers yes you heard me that's S E V E N and got their first Big 10 win since 2017 Coach Schiano has these boys rolling. Mel Tucker should have stayed at Colorado University he looked like a lost sheep most of this game. Yes you can put blame on the players for losing the fumbles and throwing the interceptions but its on the coach first and it was bad. Michigan State is going to have a long season folks. Final score Rutgers 38 Michigan State 27.
Now lets move to the night games with the most surprising game of the day with Indiana playing host to the 8th ranked Penn State. The main story here is that Penn State was predicted to either contend with Ohio State for the Big 10 championship or win the damn thing and have a playoff berth. That all came crashing down in overtime when Hoosiers quarterback Michael Penix Jr went Mr. Fantastic and stretched his arm across the pylon for the 2-point conversation and the win. After watching replays of all the camera angles to me he was short, but i'm a blogger. Penn State played an absolutely shitty game and this one is going to to hurt them. But hey credit to Indiana Hoosiers for getting their first win against a top ten team since 1987.
The last game of the night and the one who the most eyes on it saw 18th ranked Michigan facing off in the frigid tundra of 21 ranked Minnesota. This was the big game of the weekend with College Gameday being there and ABC's late game. at the beginning it was a heavy weight fight each team came out and punched the other in the mouth just exchanging blows. Minnesota scored first and Michigan answered with a 70 yard run. But then Michigan started pulling away and didn't look back. By halftime Michigan was up 35-17. This Michigan team looks very good maybe even give Ohio State a run for their money.
